Lenten Activities
From Beth Webb:
I took this picture yesterday in my Godly Play class. For each of the lessons during Lent and on Easter Sunday, the students are to gather some things from the room that go with or tell more about the story. The Lenten lessons tell of moments in Jesus' life (birth, at the temple as a boy, changing water into wine, healing, etc.) leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection. So the picture shows what the boys brought to the lesson. You can see the desert box, where many of the Old Testament stories took place. The heart on top of it contains the 10 commandments or "10 best ways to live." Reese drew the colorful cross, and Will placed his cross over the Easter cards (cards that tell the lessons of Lent and Easter). They all contributed the holy family figures. Steven brought out the Christ candle, the small Advent candles behind the Christ candle, the Good Shepherd figure, and a Bible; Will brought out two more Bibles. Reese contributed the building; he said it's a home for the holy family. The picture in the center is the Easter card for yesterday, depicting, of course, Mary, Joseph, and the infant Jesus.
Will said, "We can put the whole room around it!"
Reese is laughing so hard because my phone says "Say cheese!" right before it takes a picture. That also got a sweet smile out of Steven!
Thanks,
Beth
