"...for I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
I was naked and you gave me clothing,
I was sick and you took care of me,
I was in prison and you visited me."
Franklin Friends is a ministry developed by Grace Episcopal Church that provides nourishing food for children at Franklin Elementary School in Liberty, Missouri.
Since 2006, through the Franklin Friends Feeding Ministry, Grace Church members have provided, as of May 31, 2011, 37,260 simple meals for children who depend on this food for nourishment on the weekend.
As this ministry has expanded over the last few years, it now has two components:
In partnership with Harvesters, a Kansas City food bank, each week throughout the school year, Grace Church members deliver BackSnacks filled with nourishing food provided by Harvesters to forty-five children at Franklin Elementary School.
In addition to the BackSnacks, Grace Church members also deliver Family Packs filled with nourishing food both to supplement the BackSnacks and, importantly, to provide food for the siblings of the Franklin Elementary School children. Family Pack food is provided through the generosity of Grace Church members.
